The app that was basically an "Yelp for people" came out a few months ago after being criticized for its purpose. Peeple has now been available for download for months now on the App Store and its purpose is to rate others based on their romantic, personal, and professional status. The two creators of the application, wanted to create it to help others find a good person to fall in love with, hire, and be familiar with your roommates, neighbors, etc. instead of talking to them. People against the app say it is a source of bullying and cyber revenge. To prevent this from happening to people who are being rates, people cannot rate others without their permission. Once access is given, the person can read the review before publishing the review to their profile. While in the app, you can hide negative reviews that are published. The creators decided to create a subscription for their app called the "truth license" which allows users to see all reviews, hidden or not. People can also comment on stories to tell their "side" of the story with this subscription
The author Brian Mastronianni is a multimedia journalist in New York. He graduated for Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in May of 2014 with a concentration in arts and culture. Since then, he has worked for Fox News, The Berkshire Eagle: News, Hancock Shaker Village: Public Relation Consultant, Yahoo! as a Freelance Writer, CBS and more (Brian Mastronianni). I believe this is credible enough because of Brian's experience and credentials. Working for CBS, one of the most popular news companies that has been around for years is pretty believable as well. CBS doesn't have a reputation for helping journalists spit up lies on their own website because they would ruin their reputation. The reason why I chose this article is because this App crosses ever double standard possible. It is going every ethical and moral right people have in privacy and opinions aren't to be trusted as fact because everyone has a different opinion to everything.
